  • International Research and Studies Grant, U.S. Department of Education, PI ($122,422, 10/1/2023-9/30/2025). Research project titled Technology Facilitated Chinese Language Teaching exploring how Chinese language courses are offered with technology in post-secondary institutions in the U.S.  
  • STARTALK Grant, National Security Agency, PI ($220,000, 6/1/2023-5/30/2025). Providing professional development for U.S. K-12 Chinese language teachers focusing on assessment and curriculum development.
  • Title VI funding for National Resource Center-Pan Asia, U.S. Department of Education, Outreach Coordinator ($1,157,308, 8/2022-8/2026). Organizing outreach activities for the Pan Asia National Resource Center at MSU.
  • STARTALK Grant, National Security Agency, PI ($199,999.03, 5/16/2022-6/30/2024). Providing professional development for U.S. K-12 Chinese language teachers focusing on assessment and STEAM content integration.
  • MSU College of Education Research Enhancement Grant, PI ($1,200, September 2021-May 2022). Conducting research on the development and adoption of Chinese children’s literature and Open Educational Resources in teaching Chinese language and culture.
  • The Open University of China Professional Development Program, the Open University of China, PI ($72,660, November 2019). Working as the Principal Investigator in the professional development training program for a group of 15 faculty members from the Open University of China; designing and delivering training modules focusing on online teaching and learning, educational technology and policy, and advances in higher education pedagogy; serving as program manager.
  • Global Education Engagement Initiative Funding, team member ($120,000, 2019-2022). Working with the Office of International Studies in Education in the College of Education at MSU to design, deliver, and organize professional development training programs for faculty members in higher education and K-12 teachers and administrators around the world.
  • NSF Grant, collaborator (2018-2021). Collaborating with ICER at Michigan State University working on a NSF funded project: US-China Collaboration on Algorithms and Software for Supercomputers with emerging aRchitEctures, providing Chinese language and culture training for participants.
  • Online Chinese Flipped Classroom Project, Principal Investigator. (Jan 2016 – 2019). Conducting research on the effectiveness of an online Flipped Classroom model for all levels of Chinese learners.
  • Chinese Early Language and Immersion Network (CELIN). (Jan 2016 – 2021). Working with CELIN, Asia Society, and College Board on CELIN Briefs Series, translation, and research report on Chinese learning in the United States.
  • Chinese Language Association of Secondary-Elementary Schools (CLASS) Chinese Teacher Survey. (Fall, 2015). Working with CLASS and CELIN, analyzing and reporting CLASS Chinese Teacher Survey results in both English and Chinese.
  • College Board (CB) – National Council of State Supervisors for Languages (NCSSFL) Survey of the State of the Chinese Language Field. (Spring, 2015). Working with CB, NCSSFL, and CELIN, translating the survey and report from English to Chinese.
  • Social Media Research Project (2014 – 2019). Exploring affordances and challenges for integrating social media with K-12 education.
